The quality of DDR mixes is a simple set of natural progression. DDR 1st Mix was an introduction. 2nd Mix was the first serious mix but lacked good songs. 3rd Mix was the first great DDR mix. 4th Mix was a huge improvement. 5th Mix didn't add too much more quantity but added a hell of a lot more quality to DDR. Max was a slight improvement but is very notable for the first DDR game to feature Max 300. Max2 is clearly the second best mix, because it gave us all the good songs of Max and a whole lot more. Extreme is simply undeniably the best mix ever created. Almost every good song ever featured in DDR is featured in Extreme. Plus some new songs were created for DDR Extreme and many new other bemani imports made it onto DDR Extreme.

Tough one.

5th has a lot of great songs, but so does 3rd+/3rd/2nd (henceforth known as 3rd+)
5th has those long songs, but 3rd+ has Nonstop. But wait! 7th has Oni...
7th has Freeze of course, and the most step options (until 8th...)
3rd+ has Unison
3rd+ backgrounds are the best...but 3rd+ character designs are buttocks
Solo 2000 has a female anouncer
5th has that funky barometer meter, but i like the way 3rd+'s whole screen flashes when the meter is full
5th has Charmy...but 3rd+ has Tracy

I may well say 8th, but i haven't seen one yet
Nor have i seen 4th/4th+...does it have Tracy?

Tracey is indeed in 4th mix and I think 4th mix+. She is also in the backround with Janet in Sercet Rendevous in the DDR MAX's. E1.gif

And also, this topic has been done before. blink.gif

dude how in the hell could you get a "AA" on 4th mix, that would mean that you got all perfects on the song.... its the old kind of a "AAA" but anyways, 4th mix plus is really good, because of the fact it has "all music". 5th mix is nice because it has all the long versions of the songs. sometimes i wish they didnt upgrade 5thmix to extreme because i allways have wanted to play b4u glorious style. i sucked at ddr back when they had fifth mix, i was too busy doing hero happy grandale mix!!! but i think Extreme, is the best (of course)

You haven't played Extreme? Well if you ever do: prepare to be blown away! Extreme is by far the best, but you have to play it for yourself in order to believe it for real.

You are very observant about the mixes. However clearly the best 1 you played is Max2. Max2 has great new music, great choices for music returning from previous mixes, and all those great step options.

I personally like 4th+, but maybe thats cause its what my local arcade has. Thank goodness too cause our only other mix is 6th, which IMO is kinda horrible with its small song list.

As for Extreme, I've only played it like 3 times for about 2 sets a time, and its is a GREAT mix. But its almost overwhelming the ammount of songs that it has. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not a good thing when you only get play a couple sets on it. E13.gif

Candy, Witch Doctor, Exotic Ethnic, Twilight Zone, Let's Groove, True, Look to the Sky, Telephone Operator, Max 300, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, On The Jazz, So Deep, and maybe 1 more I didn't name. Also DDR Max gave us easy all sorts of new step options. Read this post and tell me DDR Max is "kinda horrible"!

Does ITG 2 count? If it does, then I pick that one.
